Esta web ya existia, pero como veries en el artículo ha tenido interesantes mejoras.fuente: http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/080104-063004Now that InfoSpace has cleared away other business lines and staff, they just re-committed to online search. The company aims to grow through white-label distribution, which includes over 100 partners so far. In addition, they seek growth through through consumer traffic — and that strikes me as quixotic at best.

InfoSpace embraces the current search ecosystem, from both organic and paid perspectives. Dogpile has garnered J.D. Power’s top satisfaction award for two years running. It’s a nice interface that fetches results from Google, Yahoo, MSN Live and Ask engines simultaneously. Beyond the organic search results, InfoSpace has ensured both Google and Yahoo ad sources through 2011.

Yesterday’s strategy release mentions “significant product enhancements” and we’ll have to wait to hear more. In the meantime, the company touts the benefits of metasearch and non-duplicated results. In their April 2007 study of 19,000 random queries, over 75% of what each engine returned on page-one results was unique. In addition, the first three results returned for these queries didn’t overlap at all. Thus unifying and organizing different results seems to be the core value proposition.

So what will drive consumer demand? Well, InfoSpace appointed a new CMO yesterday to figure this out. Bruce Allenbaugh has held top-spots at bigger companies like Safeco and Nextlink. His experience leading marketing at Avenue A, as it went public, seems most relevant because he’s been involved in the Search and Search marketing business before. And since he is from the industry, we’d like to know what attracts Bruce to this role.InfoSpace has such a storied history! Let’s see how they do in differentiating their offerings, and balancing between business partnerships and consumer opportunities.

There have been a number of updates to Google Adwords and Google Analytics lately, so I thought the SEOmoz community might want a summary of them.  For the most part, I am impressed with the new features and Google should be applauded for listening to their user base and responding with these additions.

 - AdWords Geographical Targeting with Google Maps

Although geographical targeting is not perfect, this new mapping feature does make it easier for the average user.  Google has introduced a new system where users can see targeted areas using Google Maps.  I like this feature a lot because it allows me to see the surrounding towns and cities which I might want to include in my targeting for a particular local client.  This is especially handy for those who manage clients outside of their geographic area.

Some new improvements include Google’s creation of “bundles,” where you can bundle together specific regions like Central America or Africa.

Where this system falls short, and this is a long standing issue with geo targeting, is the fact that a user sitting in City Example X, may not have an IP address registered to that location.  Thus, when developing campaigns it can be a good idea to develop campaigns with the city keyword as a geographic qualifier and even test the effectiveness of the polygon targeting tool.

Here is what the map targeting looks like for a client looking to target the Toronto region in Canada:

or older, reaching 69 percent of the total German Internet audience. It was
followed by eBay which attracted 17.4 million unique visitors, a 52 percent

Strikes Drive Traffic to Transport and News Sites

The strikes which have brought German rail services to a standstill in recent weeks
sparked an upsurge in traffic to German transportation and news sites in
October. The second largest property in the ranking of the top ten fastest
growing properties was Deutsche Bahn, the company now at the helm of the
formerly state owned German railways. The property grew 15 percent to 5.5
million unique visitors in October, as commuters flocked online to find
information on affected routes.

There were also notable increases for a number of news and information sites.
Sueddeutscher Verlag Sites was up 17 percent to 1.8 million unique visitors,
Hubert Burda Media grew eleven percent to just under four million, and ARD
Sites, the largest property in the top ten fastest growing, grew 11 percent to
seven million unique visitors.

“The recent round of strikes, particularly in the transport sector, has had a
significant impact on German Internet usage,” said Bob Ivins, EVP of European Markets
for comScore. “Over half a million more commuters visited Deutsche Bahn in
October than in the previous month., Since the strikes’ disruptions increased
in November making it difficult to get to work, it will be very interesting to
see if we observe an increase in ‘telecommuting via the Internet’ in the
November comScore data.”

Top 10 Gaining Properties for October

It appears that the European release of Xbox title Halo 3 on September 27 has ignited interest
in gaming. A number of gaming sites were among the top ten fastest growing
properties in October. Online gaming portal, Spill Group, increased total
traffic 19 percent to 1.7 million unique visitors, while Zylom – a site
providing free online and downloadable games – grew 17 percent to 2.3 million. IDG
Entertainment, an online network of multi-platform gaming magazines, including
gamestar.de and gamepro.de, also enjoyed a growth of 17 percent to reach 1.7
million unique visitors.
